Someone Else Building Tucker Replicas?

Postby Tuckerfan1053 » Mon Aug 13, 2007 8:39 am

This article mentions a Rick Perez and says
One of his specialty jobs was the replica of a 1948 Tucker fabricated for a New Jersey friend. "The Tucker, conceived by Preston Tucker, was ahead of its time. Only 51 were built," Rick says. One of his Tucker replicas was chosen for display in the Toyota Museum in Tokyo.
It's not clear from the article who's building the replicas. And what's Toyota doing with a replica? I thought they had an original.

The Toyota Auto Museum in Nagakutecho, Japan does have an original Tucker, not a replicar. their Tucker is Serial Number 1004. This car was in the Tucker movie and at that time was owned by Ray & Ruth Burton from Falls Church, VA. Believe when Ray passed away his son Vic sold the car.

Sometimes these writers just don't seem to get things correct.

I'm fairly certain Ida built a replicar for someone in Japan. Not sure that it was the owners of 1004 though.

Records show:

#1004 Burgundy-Red is owned by the Toyota Automobile Museum in Japan http://www.toyota.co.jp/Museum/index.html

#1020 Maroon was purchased by Hani Corporation, Japan
This car was gold but has been repainted to its original color (#600, Maroon).

Hani Corporation also purchased an Ida Automotive Tucker (Maroon).

You'd have to ask them.

Tucker Torpedo and Rob Ida

Postby Tom » Wed Feb 27, 2008 1:33 pm

I was just checking out www.robidaconcepts.com and they have on the picture board where it says Carioca build some pics of the Tucker Torpedo and it says coming soon!!!! Can anyone improvise on this? Does this mean after the Carioca build they are going to build the Torpedo? If this is the case, I would not doubt seeing the Talisman and possibly the Tucker Combat car in the near future.

I've been checking that page for allmost a year now, and nothing seems to be happening there. But who knows, maybe they are too busy building it so they don't have the time to maintain their site
